Define the machine requirement
Identify the sludge source, conditioning sequence, measured feed solids and installed centrifuge. State which operating constraint needs attention and which outcomes must not deteriorate. Cake handling, capture, throughput and chemical use can lead to different grade decisions.
Keep the incumbent code and normal operating record available. The product family cationic polyacrylamide does not establish the charge profile, supplied form or usable dose for a particular sludge.
Compare candidates under interpretable conditions
Request a reasoned sample set with code-specific preparation instructions. Record water, concentration and elapsed preparation time. Incomplete stock can create a false difference between products even when nominal powder mass is matched.
Advance promising bench results through a bounded plant comparison. Retain centrate quality and cake observations together, with the relevant machine settings and feed condition. Follow plant controls for any adjustment instead of changing several settings merely to favor a candidate.
Keep the consumption basis honest
State whether the dose is commercial product per dry-solids mass, another process basis or stock volume. If comparing active mass, obtain a documented fraction and the conversion data. A solids value on a sheet does not automatically establish active content.
Compare costs only for runs meeting the same acceptance conditions. A cheaper kilogram may be a more expensive operating choice if consumption increases or the required capture cannot be maintained.
Approve the complete supply requirement
Retain preparation capacity, delivery method and the selected code with the purchase record. Confirm packaging and documents for the first commercial shipment. A sample result should not silently permit another cationic grade under the same generic label.
Use sludge approval and second-source controls when another manufacturer is being considered. Keep any separate operating settings explicit rather than calling every acceptable candidate interchangeable.
Purchasing evidence to keep
| Approval point | Record needed |
|---|---|
| Process | Sludge source, measured solids and centrifuge settings identify the evidence. |
| Result | Capture, centrate and cake handling remain acceptable at the recorded consumption. |
| Supply gate | Production code and practical preparation demand match the approved candidate. |
